Sworn or official translations are carried out by certified translators who certify that the content of the translated document is a true copy of the original.
This kind of translation is usually required for all official and legal procedures, that is to say when documents must be presented to authorities, businesses and institutions of countries where the language of the official document is not spoken.
The translation must be signed, stamped and legalised by the certified translator.
Examples of sworn translations are:
- academic certificates and records
- birth, marriage and death certificates, criminal records
- legal judgements
- wills and inheritance documents
- insurance policies
- powers of attorney
- audit reports
- bills and receipts
